Welcome to My "Bea Lothrop Artistry" Web Site

My artistic career started at age five making mud 'pies', baking them in the sun and painting them pistachio green and adding embellishment of stones and shells!  This was Mexico in the 50's -- steeped in color from the indigenous Indian textile hues; muralist Orozco's earth and jewel tone art; architect Luis Barragan's sparse and vivid color designs; Europe's influential gifts of broad boulevards and majestic cathedrals contrasting with the Pacific coast's sumptuous tropical natural wildlife that ignited my imagination forever.

Two lifetimes passed as I completed long careers: the first in the New York City advertising world, followed by a fulfilling career in the healing arts of Massage Therapy and Healing Touch in Sag Harbor, NY.

Concurrently I was exploring various creative skills which finally culminated in hand weaving with those yummy colored tiny glass seed beads from Japan, and Swarovski crystals from Austria and Czech pressed glass beads.  This became my favorite delight!

Western North Carolina

In 2013, out of the blue, I was inspired to move to Weaverville in Western North Carolina.  Here I established my new home with a Studio, a Beekeeping Yard and plenty of garden space to turn into a pollinator haven.

"Gotta Have It" Vendor's Market

and Special Events

During the past three years I have participated in the Spring and Fall "Weaverville Art Safari" and the November "OLLI Holiday Bazaar" at UNCA Asheville.

I was thrilled to be a featured Artist and Beekeeper in the Dec.2017/Jan.2018 edition of "Asheville Made - Celebrating Local Makers".

This year, 2019, I joined the recently opened "GOTTA HAVE IT" Vendors Market operated by Terry and Victoria at 60 Monticello Road in Weaverville, where my work will be on display for sale year-round.   Come and Visit!!
